Course Description

  • Introduction to DNA Sequencing & Concepts – Understand the principles of DNA sequencing, its technologies, applications, and essential terminologies.

  • Linux Setup & Tool Installation for DNA-Seq Analysis – Install and configure essential bioinformatics tools and software in a Linux environment.

  • Quality Control, Read Preprocessing & Alignment – Perform quality assessment of raw reads, trim low-quality sequences, and align reads to reference genomes.

  • Variant Calling & Annotation – Detect SNPs and indels, perform variant filtration, and annotate variants using standard genomic databases.

  • Functional Interpretation & Visualization – Analyze the biological relevance of variants through functional annotation, gene ontology, and pathway visualization.

Course Outcomes

  • Understand the complete DNA sequencing workflow and its role in genomics and precision medicine.

  • Perform quality control and preprocessing of raw DNA-Seq data using bioinformatics tools.

  • Align sequencing reads and identify genomic variants such as SNPs and indels.

  • Annotate and interpret genetic variants using public databases and annotation tools.

  • Visualize and analyze functional impacts of variants through gene ontology and pathway analysis.
